Dear Harry and Josephine: I have some terrible news this morning. Yesterday Saturday, November 2, 2002 my Father Ben Truyman passed away after suffering a massive heart attack early in the morning. You can imagine the shock since we had no warning thatthis could happen. I talked to him Wednesday past and he was in good spirits and he drove to Appleton Friday and paid a visit to my sister Diane who said he was in a good mood too. He was complaining about chest pains and called my brother Mark to drivehis to the doctor and he suffered the main attack in route to the hospital in Shawano. A Rescue Squad was called but attempts to revive him failed. He passed on at 8:00 a.m.
He is gone to a much better place and we must do our best to comfort our Mom who is in a state of shock. Diane and Mark stayed with her last night and I will stay with her for the next several days. We must go to the funeral home in Seymour to make the arraignments this morning at 10 and plan the service.
I know how much you know this hurts after just losing your Mom so please pardon me if I'm a bit short this morning. I am so happy though that he had a chance to meet you and to get to know a bit about his Father's homeland. My parents always spoke how much they enjoyed meeting you and what nice people you are! But you have to be you're a Truyman right?
I had to call my Uncle Jerry yesterday to tell him the bad news and that was very hard to tell him his brother was gone. But death comes to all of us and we never quite now when.
I will close now but I intend to take the next week off so I will write to tell you of the service. Our regards to you and all our friends in Belgium.

Truyman, Benedict F.
Benedict F. Truyman, age 82, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, Nov. 2, 2002 at the Shawano Medical Center.
He was born February 18, 1920 in Kaukauna, the son of the late Ben and Teresa (DeBuechler) Truyman. On October 12, 1946 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Dercks in Little Chute. Ben served in the U.S. Army, 3rd Armored Division. He was a World War II veteran serving in the European Theatre. He is a 50-year member of the Seymour American Legion and VFW. Ben was a manager of Gustman's in Seymour for many years and then became a partner of Ebert-Truyman Insurance in Seymour. He served as a former Alderman and a Mayor of Seymour; charter member of the Lions Club; and Seymour Economic Development. He was a past member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour and presently a member of St. Martin?s Catholic Church, Cecil.
He is survived by his wife, Gerry; his children, David (Carol) Truyman, Black Creek; Rick (Debbie) Truyman, Appleton; Mark (Debbie) Truyman, Seymour; Diane (Lee) Schumacher, Appleton; his grandchildren, Jody, Ranee, Jennifer, Mike, Becky, Ken, Eric, Deanna, and Katie; his great-grandchildren, Blake, Bryce, and Rhett. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Lorraine Fuerst, Appleton; Jerome (Marie) Truyman, Kaukauna; Evelyn (William) Knapp, Pickerel; Jack (Laura) Truyman, Oshkosh; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara (Raymond) DeCoster, Neenah; Mary Jane (Robert) Hartjes, Little Chute; Nick Dercks, Appleton; and Joe Dercks, Menominee.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Robert Feurst; sisters-in-law, Bernice Kray and Ceil Dercks.
Friends may call at the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, 358 S. Main St., Seymour from 4-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 5. There will be no visitation at the church prior to the funeral. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, November5 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour with Father Martin Fox officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
A memorial fund has been established.
