Birth registration Alphonsus Truyman

Alphonsus Truyman was born in Melsele on 29 May 1892.
During WWI Alfons served as a soldier 2nd class militia 1912
with the 8th Line Regiment, 4th Company, known under number 55896.
He was killed at the age of 22 in Keiem (West Flanders) on 19 October 1914
and buried there in the military cemetery, grave no. 71.
(From the so-called militia lists and the population register 1910-1920, no. 3, page 27).


In a letter to the Major-Director of the burial service in Bruges, dated on 16 July 1920, the Mayor of Melsele writes the following: "As a result of your apostil of 8 July 1920, n° E 4365d, I have the honour to inform you that the family of soldier Truyman Alfons, 8th line regiment, 4th Company, known under number 55896 still lives in the municipality of Melsele Waas, Smoutpot district." (Register 1918 - 1920, p. 385.)
